Ocean High by Capital Vacations

Very nice place for its age. Nice location at the northern end of Ocean City, on the bay and only three blocks from the beach. The staff was very helpful, especially given that it was off season. Most of the boardwalk shops were closed for the off season, yet there was never a problem finding plenty of places to eat and entertain ourselves.

We came to Ocean High during the off season using some points I banked in RCI. The staff in the office was quite pleasant and helpful, especially Ms. Keaton and Ms. Twomey. I must say, we liked our unit quite a bit. There were maybe 5 or 6 steps to get into unit 2 that is located on the bay side, whether approaching from the front or from the boat slips and dock in the back of the unit. As for the view, it was spectacular as we got to see ducks and gulls swimming and sunning on pylons in the mornings. And that kitchen has EVERYTHING you need if you want to cook, make smoothies, bake, etc., plus the location is within walking distance of the beach and restaurants if you don't want to cook. Unit 2 was quite a surprise as it was incredibly spacious. There was a bedroom on the first floor (as well as a bathroom with a shower) plus three other bedrooms on the second floor with 1-1/2 bathrooms, and the master bedroom had the same fantastic view of the bay with a balcony. And the beds were SO comfortable, including the daybed on the first floor. The diningroom has seating for 8 and there are an additional 3 chairs at the breakfast bar. In the livingroom, there is even a pullout sleeper sofa along with a loveseat and another chair, all of which we found rather comfy upon which to sit. And lest I forget to mention the washer/dryer combo in the unit to wash the bath and bedroom linens and your clothes, plus the dustpan, broom, vacuum cleaner, and Swiffer style mop to keep the unit tidy while you are there. Before we even left, we were making plans on returning with other family members, one of whom is in a wheelchair, as there is no carpet on the first floor and it would be easy for her to get around on the ceramic tile and wood laminate flooring in her wheelchair. Will be bringing my bathing suit the next time...there are blow dryers in the bathrooms of this unit and pool looks so inviting...

Good costumer service. Parking is a little tight but close to unit make luggage transport very easy. Nice clean unit and fits family size if needed. Great location and beautiful scenery. Great choose! I definitely would recommend for any vacation or retreat.

Our stay was the restful and peaceful one we needed after the hectic holidays. Even in January there are fun things to do. We always get in adrive to Assateague and Berlin. The unit we reserved is on the bay side and is large enough to accomodate up to 9 people with a kitchen well-stocked to serve the entire group. The pool is a nice addition - indoor. A great spot off-season for relaxing.

The resort is at an excellent location. The unit we were in was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with 3 levels. The 1st floor had a moldy smell, but levels 2 & 3 were fine. The 1st floor had some ceiling plaster that needed fixing. We only used the 1st floor for the bathroom & shower. The shower on the 1st floor was a nice walk-in (and sunken tub, that we didn't use). The shower on the 3rd floor had the standard tub/shower. There is ample parking for our unit in both the "front" and "rear" of the unit. The unit's tile floors are slippery when wet. The kitchen was "broom clean" but needed some extra cleaning for prior spills here and there. The unit needed some overall minor maintenance, but considering that we were there in Sept, that is actually pretty good, as the unit surely was fully occupied all Summer. Resort staff were friendly and helpful, sending the maintenance guy pretty quickly for a few minor items that he readily resolved. Not sure what it is with resorts these days, but they seem to be trending to only providing a “few” of the basics (TP, soap, etc.) and after that you need to buy your own. That is probably one of the negative comments that we have that could be easily addressed.

The check in is 6pm which is very late but staff is very helpful to recommend things in the area and will call you if your room is available earlier if you contact them. The units are large, somewhat dated but cleaned to perfection. They have everything you need, great location, and beautiful surroundings.

For people who are elderly adults, our unit had twin beds on the lower floor and a bathroom and jacuzzi tub and washer dryer the second floor had your kitchen deck and living room with a queen sofa bed no bathroom, the 3 floor upper floor has a queen bed and a bathroom with a overlook into the living room. The unit was clean but dated. Furniture looked as if it was purchased at a thrift store. If you are elderly the stairs will put you to the task. The units are divided into 3 sections. Section one, all rooms face the beautiful bay. Section two, all rooms face the water canal. Section three, all rooms face the parking lot. We could not choose which section we wanted to be assigned to per RCI, so we were unfortunately assigned to the view of the parking lot section. The area is quiet and well maintained on the outside. The beach and Board walk are nearby with plenty to do. Over all, section one and section two will make your vacation. if you don't mind looking out your window at the parking lot and climbing a lot of stairs, section three would make this a nice stay.

The location was good for us: not in the main "party" areas (although that's not an off-season issue), great bay view every morning and evening, easy commute to the south bridge and the mainland for better food options. We had the four-bedroom, which was a nice master and two smaller rooms (all queens) on the second floor, and a small twin bedroom with minimal space on the first floor. The rooms would work for 7 adults/teens, but not 8 unless you use the sofa bed. Only negatives were the facilities, which were clean, but needed work to repair some floor areas, etc. Nothing major, but it detracted from the overall impression. Some of the construction was just odd: the ensuite for the master was split to create a separate room for the very, very large tub, but that made the master bath smaller and the new wall was touching the side of the toilet. The toilet paper holder was placed on that too-close wall, so sitting on the toilet meant being poked by the paper holder. Unnecessesary complications like that or unprofessional finish construction items detracted from the overall effect. We'd go back, but . . . ! Other notes: The amusement park that was very close was fully closed for the winter. It would likely be a major irritation during the summer. Each bay-side unit in our block had a dock with shared access to all in the block. (Individual docks but a shared quay running behind all the units.) Overall: If I could give a 3 1/2 rating, that's more what I felt. Decent, but definitely not upscale.

Ocean High is a very nice place to stay. It was clean and conveniently located to everything. Vangie and Colleena in the front office are awesome. Check it out very nice to stay there and it has up to 4 bedrooms.
