What a beautiful location, we had a large family trip to Queenstown for the weekend & had the entire lodge to ourselves and it was absolutely perfect!! We didn’t want to leave, the owners were friendly & accomodating, it was so lovely and warm, fantastic spa, comfortable beds & the grounds were just stunning!! The main house was awesome for all of our family gatherings over the weekend with the pool table & roaring fire it was so lovely! The only small thing I would change would be an update of some of the furniture, we stayed in the large studio & the couches were a bit out of place looking in such a stunning location! With a little bit of an update here and there it would be PERFECT! But it was such a fantastic stay that, that was such a minor detail. Thank you so much couldn’t recommend this place enough!

“Sudima Queenstown Five Mile” -is in Queenstown, right? The name seems pretty clear. It’s shown as being in “Queenstown Central” which is in central Queenstown, right? The name seems pretty clear on that point too. Close to the lake perhaps, looking towards the mountains, near the Queenstown bars and restaurants? WRONG. WRONG. “Queenstown Central” is not in central Queenstown. It’s the name of a shopping centre outside of Frankton, next door to the airport, surrounded by massive carparks, supermarkets, K Mart etc and about 50m off the main State Highway 6A. Hence the “Sudima Queenstown Five Mile”, despite the name, is 7.6 km from Queenstown according to Google maps (or a $50+ taxi ride away, as I can tell you from frequent experience) and about as far away from the experience or the convenience of staying in central Queenstown as you can get. Close to the lake perhaps, looking towards the mountains, near the Queenstown bars and restaurants – in your DREAMS. Having booked in a hurry and taking at face value the name(s) described the reality, we were stuck at this hotel for three nights. On arriving we were given an “underground carpark pass”, meaning that as an elderly couple we had to park 5-10 minutes’ walk away from the hotel in an isolated underground location, walking through deserted carparks late at night or early in the morning. (As we were checking out, we discovered that the receptionist could have simply noted our car registration number and for the duration of our stay we could have parked in the massive carpark immediately outside the hotel door.) We were given Room 223 for our stay, which I found overlooked the massive nearby roundabout on the main State Highway 6A (meaning trucks would be audibly braking at all hours), with a view to K Mart, I went back to the desk and asked for a room away from the Highway. We were moved to Room 214. On entering Room 214, I discovered a woman lying on the bed, semi-undressed, on the telephone. I quickly backed out of the room and went straight down to reception, where I was told, “that’s odd, someone mustn’t have updated the system”. I went back to Room 214, knocked on the door and apologised to the occupants, explaining what had happened. All attempts to find another hotel to stay in were unsuccessful; there were no vacancies at such short notice. We stayed in Room 223, but tried to be out of the hotel as much as humanly possible. I had booked restaurants in Queenstown – full degustation menus with matching wines, for every night we stayed - meaning I couldn’t drive, and we consequently were paying an extra $100-130+ per night to go to dinner and return to the ‘carpark-hotel’. Had the room we stayed in been in a hotel located in central Queenstown then it would have been a pleasant experience, but what we experienced was simply awful. Might the name of both the hotel and the shopping centre mislead people who are booking a stay in Queenstown? I will leave it to you to decide.

C'est une unité incroyable ! Tout a été pensé et l'unité était spacieuse et située juste à quelques pas du lac. Nous ne pouvions pas le défaut ! Lave-vaisselle et séchoir, séchage de racks, lave-vaisselle et tous les liquides fournis, ainsi que tous les cons de la moelle ! Le service était étonnant! Un grand basket de bienvenue et toujours facile à atteindre en un instant de notification via WhatsApp. Nous allons certainement être là où nous restons en avant ! :) Merci élément échappe pour faire notre vacances un à vous rappeler !

My rating of 'very good' takes into consideration the amount we paid to stay here. This was the cheapest of our 12 accommodations in NZ at under £100 equivalent. We actually felt an element of sadness as the hotel has clearly had a much grander past and is suffering now, either through lack of investment or changes in customer demand. We noticed that visitors to Queenstown are in the majority younger people looking for the thrill experiences, so perhaps a hotel on the outskirts of the town originally designed for the more discerning traveller is no longer what people are looking for. The Dining room for example is grandly furnished and has amazing views across the river - you can imagine a fine dining experience here being very popular , but now the restaurant is closed for evening meals and just opens for breakfast. Such a shame. We were advised by email that evening meals were no longer available so we were prepared for that and as there are other places close by it was not a problem for us. Our room was very spacious and had an equally spacious balcony. It was bigger than many other rooms we had in other accommodations. True, it was dated and tired but the bed was comfortable, clean and we slept well. Fresh milk was easily available at reception in a small glass bottle for in room beverages - I prefer that arrangement - the little plastic packets of milk are not environmentally friendly and fresh milk always tastes nicer. The walk/ hall way to the rooms from reception to the 1st floor was in a very poor state - this gives a very poor impression and badly needs redecorating. Breakfast was ok - not amazing, but for the money paid we felt it served its purpose well. The staff we saw were all very friendly and accommodating. There is no lift in the building and the gentleman on reception offered to take our cases up to our room as he could see they were quite heavy. It will be interesting to see what happens with this hotel over the coming years, we do wish the current team well as clearly things are not easy for them at the moment.

Whilst this is an hotel that is rated as a luxury hotel there are a few features which don’t justify that title. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and most have beautiful views of the lake. However there are a few things that are irritating. Being offered a coffee on arrival and then realise you have to pay for it, having to ask for enough tea and coffee every day, and always having to ask for more milk. The room service menu is very limited and not available when it says. We had to order an early breakfast which came in a carrier bag, with no milk or yogurt. Eating muesli dry is not fun! Apparently they had run out of yoghurt? I am sure when these minor details are ironed out the Rees would be truly classed as a luxury hotel.

Le personnel de la maison est très bien placé et très confortable. Notre équipe de garde-fous n'a pas pu servir notre chambre pendant que nous étions là, nous avons offert des serviettes et du thé extra, le café sans hésiter à la demande. La décoration est très date et alors qu'elle était en première ligne désactivée (crème/vert intérieur et meubles, couches en têtes colorées dans le corridor, voir la taille de notre chambre et la propreté qu'elle a été faite pour elle. Le lit était un roi/possible super roi, très confortable et extra poulets fournis. Le petit déjeuner continental est plus que suffisant. De nouveau le personnel d'attente que j'ai approché où je suis heureux de monter, ajoutez plus (les pâturages). Merci pour un séjour merveilleux!

It's a quaint area. Very close to the airport. I'd advise to take note of the hotel name and location since there are a few Holiday Inn in Queenstown. We got confused and made it to the wrong hotel branch; were told that we weren't the first one to get them mixed up. There is no free parking sadly for anyone wondering.

Nous étions sur le sol avec une vue magnifique sur les montagnes. Lorsque la porte de patio était fermée, on ne pouvait pas entendre les hélicoptères ni les avions. La cuisine dispose d'un réfrigérateur, d'un lave-vaisselle, de plaques, etc. (cette cuisine était 2 ou 3 ou 4 des. Il aurait été mieux si tout était 4 des, vous n'avez pas à laver chaque jour), de pots/panneaux, de toi et de la coiffe. Le salon est situé dans une salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bains, à l'extérieur de la salle de bain La salle de bains est confortable et douche, mais pas de chemin de fer chauffé. Il y a un service public de bus à Arrowtown ou Queenstown mais il est très sporadique triste et les services sont annulés. La chambre était parfois très tard dans la journée mais il ne nous a pas dérangé car nous n'avons pas vraiment besoin de ça. Le parking est disponible devant, mais d'abord dans l'obtient. Alors pendant la saison de pic, je imaginais qu'il est un problème. Les pros sont confortables avec tout ce que vous voulez, près de l'aéroport, la position calme, près du supermarché.
