The Woolpack Hotel

Very comfortable stay , lovely food and friendly staff. Very spacious room with a huge bed and plenty of space. Dinner was excellent especially recommend the cheese plate to finish but only needed one between us. Full English for breakfast kept us full all day.

We stayed at the Woolpack Inn and i have to say it was fabulous, the room i stayed in was called Nannettes rose and it was spotlessly clean, overlooking the church next door. The bed was super comfy. The breakfast in the morning is a must, the best full English i have ever had. We ate in the restaurant and the food is excellent too. The service was brilliant, Dwayne the manager was so nice as were all the staff.

Met by Alex in the carpark who offered to carry our bag for us. This is a welcoming very old pub. Informed that the oldest part being 1474. We named it The Wibbly Wobbly hotel, full of beams and uneven floors. Such charm! Watched the six nations rugby in the bar with a number of locals whilst eating a great home cooked pie and more than acceptable burger. Excellent a**osphere 😁 Room was fine with a perfectly comfortable bed and a nice view out to the high street. Excellent breakfast with a comprehensive choice of cooked food. All taken care of by the lovely Duane, who made every effort to make everything right for our stay.

Had a very relaxing stay here for a weekend in Tenterden whilst we did the winery tour at nearby Chapel Down. Hosts were great, very friendly and welcoming, bar area is lovely to spend some time in and to soak up the a**osphere of the building. Don’t eat here but the breakfast the next morning was one of the best we’ve ever had anywhere - would come back

This should hav been a relaxing evening stay, perhaps with a glass or two of Hush Heath / Balfour, but sadly not. Although we booked through *********** the arrival and subsequent customer service was below the standard of the shabbiest B&B and not befitting of this brand. We had to go dig out someone to check us in who, rather sharply, told us he was on his now and we had to come back after 3, while I appreciate that check in was supposed to be 3pm the whole "I'm on my own" became something of a mantra for the stay. When we got back we again had to dig out a person to check us in, looks like the day staff member was the only person working in the hotel the whole evening. We were shown to a room that, with a little more care, could have been a stunning period room. The inclusion of cheap transparent plastic tables just made it look nasty. Our booking clearly shows "1 large double bed" although there were very clearly 2 single beds. The city team member didn't seem to care. I asked for them to be pushed together and ... yep, he was on his own and didnt know if it could be done, and it wasn't, when we got back from dinner there was no change. There was also no heating when we got up on the Sunday morning. We didn't book for breakfast and I am glad we didn't as there was only one housekeeper (that we had to search for to give the keys to) in the entire hotel so god knows how they were intending to cope with the number of settings that were lead for breakfast. Sadly I will not be back and I advise other travellers not to as well.

Excellent little pub and hotel in the centre of Tenterden with amazing English wines from Balfour. Great experience in a really lively and sympathetically decorated old inn. Also had some bar nibbles like olives and chorizo which were top notch 👌

This was an overnight booking sadly for us to attend a Wake. Phoned well in advance to make the booking on the 26th October 2023 their booking clerk who logged the booking put it into 17th November 2024 rather than 17th November 2023 which took some many days and much stress to sort out. Then to add to the disappoin**ent they made an error in the Invoice price which has come up as the Woolpack owing us £20. Spoken to them 3 times and emailed twice to refund. All this contact has been ignored. Then to add to injury we were laughed at face to face by one of the staff when we pointed out the errors. The Woolpack Booking Ref: 18b6d16e7fb

Sadly a nice hotel with quirky rooms failed totally. We stayed as 2 couples on the night of 24-25 August having booked with them through ***********. The rooms are a bit quirky and definately not level but that is fine. What is NOT fine is the fact that on returning from an greart tour around Chapel Down and a fabulous dinner at the winery my sister and her husband went to bed to find that the drainage system had failed. they could not shower nor use the toilet because everything was backing up. As there are no 'duty staff' at night and the downstairs toilets were closed, as the bar was closed, they spent a terrible night unable to wash, shower use the toilet or even brush their teeth. On approaching the staff in the morning they said they would let the duty manager know. He then told us that as we were booked with *********** we should take it up with them as they had the money. Very strange! I have contacted both the hotel through the *********** message service, *********** direct and also the hotel. Direct. Nothing by any route. I have delayed this review in case they came back to me but I must now let people know that their customer service stinks as does their plumbing! DO NOT STAY here if you need to shower or go to the loo at night!

An indifferent welcome, a poorly equipped and slightly shabby room and a severe lack of any management on site are just some of the criticisms of this down at heel hotel and pub. I wouldn't bother with it unless you really had no alternative.
