This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

Nous avons réservé cet hôtel pour un séjour en famille. Nous avions réservé plusieurs chambres ; les chambres doubles et à deux lits étaient similaires en termes d'agencement et de vue. L'emplacement était excellent, à deux pas du métro, et de nombreux restaurants et cafés se trouvaient à proximité. La rue piétonne Zhongshan Road était également accessible à pied. Les chambres étaient bien équipées et la décoration était assez récente. La propreté des chambres semblait bonne, malgré une légère odeur d'hôpital à l'entrée, probablement due au désinfectant. Les étages supérieurs offraient une vue partielle sur la mer et un aperçu de l'île de Gulangyu. Le personnel d'entretien était très serviable ; voyant que nous avions plusieurs enfants, ils nous ont spontanément apporté des cintres supplémentaires, ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. La piscine était un peu petite, parfaite pour que les enfants puissent jouer, mais peut-être pas assez grande pour les adultes qui souhaitent faire de l'exercice. La présence de maîtres-nageurs nous rassurait.

Everything is just great for us! Although the hotel is not in the town area, but you can access to any popular attractions less than 20mins by taking car.

La chambre était très agréable et l'hôtel facile à trouver ; il y avait un grand parking pour les bus, une piscine chauffée et un service excellent. Il méritait amplement ses quatre étoiles.

C'était ma première fois à Xiamen, et après avoir filtré de nombreux hôtels, j'ai finalement choisi cet hôtel de la marque InterContinental. Le résultat a dépassé toutes mes attentes. La chambre était très spacieuse, le lit mesurait presque 2 mètres de large, parfait pour deux personnes, et les oreillers étaient très confortables. Je voudrais particulièrement souligner le service d'étage. Après avoir prolongé mon séjour d'une journée, j'ai trouvé la chambre impeccablement nettoyée. Des serviettes étaient pliées sur le lit avec les chaussons posés dessus, un vrai sens du détail ! J'avais mentionné que j'aimais les sachets de thé fournis et on m'en a directement offert un grand paquet, j'étais tellement touché ! La prochaine fois que je viendrai à Xiamen, je reviendrai sans hésiter ici.

Un hôtel méconnu à Xiamen ! Un rapport qualité-prix imbattable, une expérience unique ! Deux semaines après mon arrivée à Xiamen, j'ai commencé à chercher un hébergement en ligne. Je suis tombée sur cet endroit et, après avoir lu tous les avis – tous positifs – et vu le prix incroyablement abordable, j'ai été immédiatement séduite et j'ai réservé une chambre. Venant d'arriver en train avec de lourds bagages et ne connaissant pas la région, j'ai rapidement appelé le propriétaire pour obtenir des indications. Je pensais que ce serait un simple coup de fil, mais le propriétaire a été incroyablement accueillant. Après lui avoir indiqué notre adresse, il est venu nous chercher et nous a même aidés avec nos bagages. Ce service attentionné nous a immédiatement mis à l'aise et a dépassé nos attentes ! Le jeune homme qui nous a accueillis était grand, beau et très poli, offrant un excellent service du début à la fin. En entrant dans la chambre, la surprise fut encore plus grande. Contrairement aux pensions ou hôtels bon marché habituels, elle était impeccable, chaque recoin étant d'une propreté méticuleuse. Le lit était exactement de la même taille que le mien, je ne me suis donc pas sentie à l'étroit du tout. Le matelas était particulièrement agréable – parfaitement ferme et moelleux, il épousait à merveille les contours de mon corps et, après un long voyage, la fatigue s'est instantanément dissipée. Les produits de toilette fournis par l'hôtel étaient également incroyablement complets : brosse à dents, peigne, gel douche et shampoing étaient tous inclus, et d'excellente qualité. On sentait clairement le souci du détail du propriétaire ; il ne s'agissait pas d'articles bon marché fournis à la hâte. Les nuits ont été exceptionnellement agréables. L'hôtel était d'un calme absolu et, fenêtres fermées, on était complètement isolé du bruit extérieur, ce qui m'a permis de dormir profondément jusqu'à l'aube – un point si important pour les voyageurs ! Le lendemain matin, je me suis levé tôt et je suis allé à la plage toute proche. J'ai admiré un magnifique coucher de soleil, bercé par une douce brise sur l'eau. La mer scintillante se détachant sur les teintes orangées du soleil couchant transformait chaque photo en chef-d'œuvre, l'atmosphère était tout simplement époustouflante. J'ai également découvert que l'hôtel disposait d'une piscine. J'imaginais déjà le plaisir de s'y rafraîchir après une journée d'activités estivales ! Dommage qu'elle ait été trop froide en hiver, je n'ai donc pas osé l'essayer – un petit regret. Ce qui m'a le plus impressionné, c'est le rapport qualité-prix de l'hôtel. En cette période de vacances, les prix des hébergements à Xiamen sont généralement plus élevés, mais cet hôtel ne m'a coûté qu'un peu plus de 100 yuans pour un service aussi attentionné, un environnement propre et confortable, et un emplacement idéal – un rapport qualité-prix incroyable ! C'est sans conteste le meilleur hôtel où j'ai séjourné lors de mon voyage à Xiamen. Je donnerais volontiers 10 étoiles au propriétaire ! Je le recommande chaleureusement à tous ceux qui prévoient un voyage à Xiamen. Lors de mon prochain séjour à Xiamen, je choisirai à nouveau cet hôtel sans hésiter et je prolongerai mon séjour pour profiter pleinement de la beauté de la ville !

Grand Honor Hotel is definitely the best hotel in Shishi, but it’s not quite the same level as a luxury hotel in a bigger city. Generally the hotel is clean, but it’s the little things that I noticed, ie when I checked in, there were some sweet wrappers next to the bowl of sweets that weren’t cleared away. That said, the sense of space is evident in the hotel lobby, lifts, corridors and most importantly, the hotel rooms. Rooms are very spacious and well-designed, although the closet area can definitely do with brighter lights. Most amenities are provided but what put me off is that many items that would have been free in other hotels at this price-range aren’t free at Grand Honor. There is a Chinese tea set on the table and usually the loose leaf tea is provided for free but it cost ¥15 per packet. Honestly it’s not a lot of money for us, but on the flip side, surely the hotel can provide a bag of tea leaves for their guests. There are the standard free single-use packet tea in the drawer so at least there’s that. In-room slippers are not to be taken out; they’d charge you if you do - and that’s fine, but the slippers are actually really uncomfortable to wear. The small plate of fruits (banana, plum and mandarin) given at 5pm every day is a nice touch. The hotel breakfast is probably the highlight. Set on the 22nd floor with panoramic views of the city, breakfast is very enjoyable. The food quality is pretty good, but a real surprise here is the sheer diversity of food. The bread selection alone has 5-6 choices (pastries, brioche, baguette, square toast, etc), the cooked food section is almost endless (and there’s cooked Chinese vegetables! 👏🏾) and then there’s the fruit selection at the end too. My only gripe is that the coffee machine is a bit slow, and there’s only one machine so there can be a wait for coffee. Location of the hotel is a little odd; good restaurants and the main mall is about 15 mins’ walk away. There aren’t many good shops to wander around nearby. Generally, this is a solid hotel for this price point. Excellent service with very fast food delivery (using the ubiquitous delivery robots) and friendly front desk staff.

C'est notre premier séjour à Fuzhou. J'ai voyagé avec mon mari et ma mère. J'ai réservé quatre hôtels différents pour un total de neuf nuits à Fuzhou. Le Narada est le deuxième hôtel. Nous avons passé deux nuits dans l'aile privée des sources chaudes. Un surclassement gratuit a été offert à l'arrivée. Nous avons ensuite été conduits à nos chambres par la charmante réceptionniste, Xiao Li (前台小李). Elle est très professionnelle et très serviable : dès notre descente du taxi, elle a porté tous nos bagages. Tout au long de notre voyage, elle a toujours été là pour répondre à toutes nos questions et est très chaleureuse et agréable. Le lendemain matin, nous avons appelé la réception pour qu'on nous amène à l'hôtel principal pour le petit-déjeuner. Le menu est excellent, avec des plats chinois et occidentaux. Les chefs sont très sympathiques et accessibles. Je tiens à remercier la serveuse du restaurant, Chen Hong (陈虹). Chaque matin, nous avons été accueillis par son excellent service. Elle nous a parlé de la culture, de la gastronomie et des endroits à visiter à Fuzhou. Elle a fait tout son possible pour nous accueillir chaleureusement. Le check-out s'est également déroulé sans problème. Nous avons simplement appelé la réception, laissé nos clés dans la chambre et sommes partis. Nous avons ensuite pris la direction de l'hôtel suivant, plus proche du centre-ville. Nous avons été choqués par l'état des lieux : l'environnement et l'extérieur de l'hôtel semblaient délabrés et sales. Nous avons ensuite décidé de retourner à Narada. Nous avons de nouveau été accueillis par Xiao Li (前台小李). Dès qu'elle nous a vus, elle est venue nous demander si elle pouvait nous aider. Nous lui avons raconté notre terrible expérience à l'autre hôtel et elle nous a aidés à réserver deux chambres dans l'hôtel principal. Elle nous a même fait visiter les chambres avant de réserver. Nous avons également rencontré Chen Hong (陈虹) en attendant les chambres ; elle a fait preuve d'empathie et nous a recommandé d'autres lieux et événements locaux. Nous avons été tellement impressionnés par les chambres, l'hospitalité et le service impeccable de Xiao Li (前台小李) et Chen Hong (西餐厅陈虹) que nous avons décidé de ne pas déménager en centre-ville et d'y séjourner 7 nuits supplémentaires avant notre vol de retour pour Singapour. Un grand merci au Narada Resort & Spa, Shoukai, Fuzhou. Le personnel est vraiment formidable. Merci beaucoup !

This is a very good hotel. It is right next to the shopping mall, so restaurants and coffee shops are everywhere. We really appreciated the friendly front desk staff getting us an upgraded room. It is spacious, cleaned, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything we need. We love their long and cleaned pool. It’s perfect for lap swimmers. Definitely we will recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Our stay at Andaz Xiamen was absolutely spectacular. The hospitality here is top-tier; the staff are extremely friendly, proactive, and go completely out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The hotel’s architecture and high-class design are an absolute highlight. Conceived as a modern interpretation of a classic Nanyang mansion, it beautifully blends old-world tropical grandeur with sleek luxury, complete with gorgeous rattan accents, warm timber louvers, and lush, green walkways that make it feel like a ”garden on the sea.” Every corner, from the striking, high-ceilinged lobby to our room, was impeccably clean and tidy. The location in the Siming district is incredibly convenient, sitting right next to the MixC mall. Having world-class shopping and endless dining options just steps away made exploring effortless, and being close to the metro and railway station made commuting seamless. Another massive standout was the amenities. The outdoor swimming pool is fantastic, it’s heated, perfectly maintained, and surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping, providing a peaceful, relaxing escape right in the middle of the city. The evening social hour with drinks and snacks at the Andaz Lounge was also a wonderful touch. We had a flawless experience and cannot wait to return. Highest recommendation!
