石見銀山大森の街並み散策の途中

大森の街並みの散策の途中で立ち寄りました。道路側にお寺があり、そちらで拝観料を支払い先に本堂の側をまわり、そのあとで川の山側にある五百羅漢をまわるようになっていました。羅漢は左右に半々に分かれているようでした。ここにも明治の大地震の記録がありました。羅漢は一つづつ表情やポーズが異なります。洞の中にあります。

18世紀中頃、「銀山」で亡くなった人々を供養するために建立された「五百羅漢」です。 ちょっとした洞窟の中にある「五百羅漢」は、どの石造も違う表情をしていて生きているような感じでした。暗闇の中に安置されているため、ちょっと怖かった覚えがあります。 ちなみに、この「五百羅漢」を管理している「羅漢寺」は「高野山真言宗」だそうです。
