Beauty abounds at this recreation area. Interesting displays within the visitor center and the drive throughout the area is serene.

great way sto see local animals. live and mounted.
Nowhere else have I been able to hold my arms out to my sides and compare my arm span with local birds. I am an eagle. Examples of many native plants can be seen and much more.

I don't know if this truly counts as a 'sky island', but it is a small mountain with pine trees above the plains. It's a nice stop after about 50 miles from I-80 going toward Scottsbluff. Admission ...

Nice scenic area to spend some time among the trees. There are several different but short hiking trails. About a dozen camping sites too if you wish to spend a night or two. Rates are $15 per night. ...
