日本最初の有料トンネル
道の駅宇津ノ谷峠は距離の離れた2箇所に分かれてあり、その間にこちらのトンネルがあります。現存する最古の煉瓦造りトンネルは当初はくの字だったそうですが火災の後今のように真っ直ぐになったそうです。周囲が緑豊かなこともあって夏でもひんやりして気持ち良く、味のある道路遺構が楽しめます。
