I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in Japan. I booked a Run of House (ROH) room for my family. The booking description stated that room sizes range from 28 to 38 square meters. Based on that description, I reasonably expected that room assignments would be allocated fairly within that range. Upon check-in, I initially asked whether it would be possible to have a room facing Huis Ten Bosch. I fully understood when I was told that a park-facing room would require an additional charge, as such rooms are often sold at a premium. However, after entering the room, I realized that I had been assigned what appeared to be the smallest and least desirable room available. At that point, I was no longer asking for a park view. I simply asked whether it would be possible to have a slightly larger room, especially since the ROH description clearly stated that room sizes range from 28 to 38 square meters. What made the experience particularly frustrating was that I had already read reviews from other guests who booked the same ROH category and received significantly better rooms. One guest mentioned being assigned a park-view room after making a request, while another guest appeared to have received one of the hotel’s best room categories despite booking ROH. When I politely asked why other guests with the same booking category seemed to receive much better room assignments while I was given the smallest room available, the front desk was unable to provide a clear explanation. Instead, I was repeatedly told that any room change would require an upgrade fee. At one point, I was even told to contact the booking platform and ask the platform to pay for the room change. This response made very little sense. I was not asking for a free upgrade. I was simply asking for transparency and consistency regarding how ROH rooms are allocated. After a lengthy discussion, the hotel eventually moved us to a slightly larger room. However, the replacement room was located on the lowest floor, at the far end of the corridor, with a partially obstructed theme park view. While I appreciated the effort, it reinforced the impression that alternative rooms were available, yet no clear explanation was ever provided regarding the original room assignment. My disappointment is not that I did not receive the best room. I fully understand that ROH bookings do not guarantee upgrades. My concern is that the hotel advertises a room size range of 28–38 square meters, creating the expectation that room assignments may reasonably vary within that range. If ROH guests are always assigned the smallest and least desirable room available, even when larger rooms remain vacant, then the hotel should simply advertise the room as 28 square meters. That would allow guests to make an informed decision before booking. For families travelling with children, room size matters. Had the listing clearly indicated that ROH guests would receive a 28-square-meter room, I would likely have selected a different room category from the beginning. The hotel itself is in a convenient location and the facilities are generally good. However, the handling of this situation left a very negative impression. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend booking a specific room category rather than ROH, so that expectations are clear from the outset.

Highly recommended to everyone who comes and especially those coming for Miffy! Hotel Amsterdam is just next to the Miffy Wonder Square. Although I wasn’t able to book the Miffy themed room this time, the room we stayed was also very good enough. Super spacious with the toilet and bathroom separated. The buffet breakfast was great too. Had a comfortable stay and will come back if I visit Huis Ten Bosch again.

Private entrance to Huis Ten Bosch takes you almost directly to the flower fields. They provide free loaner umbrellas which was handy as it rained one day during our stay. Breakfast was decent with a variety of western and Japanese foods. It is nice that breakfast is offered for quite a while so you have flexibility when eating. They were very helpful with storing luggage early and picking it up late so we could spend our time enjoying Huis Ten Bosch without worrying. My husband had a guitar and they personally held it in a protected location as they also have automated luggae storage. Facilities were clean and maintained although not new. Front desk spoke flawless English. Overall a pleasant stay. 

L'hôtel se trouve à environ 3,3 kilomètres de la gare de Nagasaki. Des navettes gratuites circulent uniquement à 9h00, 9h30 et 10h00. Avant cette heure, vous ne pouvez prendre qu'un taxi. ce qui coûte environ 1 500 yens. Il y a aussi un bus pour la gare JR devant la porte. Pour la prise en charge, nous sommes arrivés à la gare de Nagasaki à 20 heures et avons appelé l'hôtel. Il y avait un bus à 8h25, sortant de la sortie ouest de la gare de Nagasaki. C'était un véhicule argenté avec le nom de l'hôtel peint dessus. La pièce est la plus grande de notre voyage à Kyushu. La valise peut être complètement ouverte. Nous logeons dans le bâtiment principal. Il y a un observatoire au 9ème étage où vous pouvez regarder la vue nocturne. vous pouvez vous rendre aux grands bains publics du bâtiment Akebono (annexe). Grand écran et grandes fenêtres, belle vue. Bien sûr, l'hôtel principal dispose également d'un bain public, mais il est relativement petit. Il y a ici une piscine extérieure en plein air. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux. À ce moment-là, nous étions conduits par un siège latéral et non par la fenêtre. Une Japonaise à côté de nous a pris l'initiative de changer de siège pour nous. Le personnel de la réception était très prévenant et a présenté l'hôtel en détail. A recommander.

L'hôtel est très bien situé pour la visite, près de quelques attractions et l'accès aux transports publics.  La chambre est assez spacieuse pour les standards japonais. L'hôtel est très beau. Je voudrais revenir à chaque fois que je visite Nagoya.

Great location for boat excursions and Dejima compound. 20 minutes walk to Chinatown and just a little further to Glover Gardens - trams and buses are convenient from the hotel if preferred. Just 2 tramstops to Nagasaki Station.

New and clean very nice hotel. Amenities are good and bought a few shower gels and shampoos there as they smelled so good. The room and bathroom are perfectly clean. Very tasty green tea met us on the reception. The only strange thing was the bathroom with windows in both side - to the room and outside. You can close it but you have to cover all the windows every time you go tge toilet.

Lors de ma réservation, j'étais un peu inquiète quant à l'emplacement de l'hôtel et au fait qu'il s'agissait d'un établissement ancien, mais mes craintes étaient infondées. L'hôtel est situé à seulement 7-8 minutes de la gare de Nagasaki sur la ligne Kobo, mais… La navette aéroport s'arrête juste devant l'entrée principale (Takaramachi), et on peut également prendre la navette aéroport au même arrêt, ce qui est extrêmement pratique. Le centre commercial Cocowalk se trouve à environ 8 minutes au nord. Le grand bain public, ouvert en mars, était particulièrement impressionnant par ses installations et sa taille. Le petit-déjeuner, bien que proposant un choix limité, change tous les jours et est plutôt bon. Cependant, il n'est servi qu'à partir de 7h00. Le dernier jour, en raison de mon horaire de vol, je me suis renseignée à la réception et j'ai reçu un panier-repas à emporter pour l'aéroport. Le personnel était toujours très aimable et disponible, ce qui était également très appréciable. Tout était excellent.

Staying at Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street was a highlight of our trip to Nagasaki. The hotel is beautifully designed with a distinct British colonial character that fits perfectly into the historic Glover Garden neighbourhood — stepping outside, you’re just moments from Oura Cathedral and some of Nagasaki’s most iconic sights. The rooms are immaculate, stylishly appointed, and the bathrobes were a lovely touch after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast at Restaurant Cathedréclat — set inside what feels like a converted chapel — was a real experience in itself, with a tasty Japanese option that was genuinely delicious. The staff deserve a special mention: attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. Service was flawless from check-in to check-out. The only minor thing I’d flag — and it really is minor — is that the pillows are on the thin and soft side, which might not suit everyone who prefers a bit more support. A firmer pillow option would make this hotel absolutely perfect.

La chambre était propre et décente, mais la douche sent comme une moule. Il y avait une machine à laver dans la chambre, qui était très jolie parce que nous n'avons pas dû sortir pour faire le lave-linge. L'hôtel est proche de la vieille rue néerlandaise et il y a un très joli endroit pour dîner près de 五 うどんと Alkohol と 屋. Nous avons tous apprécié la nourriture, la sake et le prix était très décent.
