We loved everything about the stay. The owner/manager served us enthusiastically. The food is consistently of a high standard and a very relaxed and pleasant dining experience. The staff go above and beyond cheerfully. Since finding Hidden Lake Hotel, we have not stayed anywhere else when travelling from Auckland to Taupo via Cambridge and intend to spend more time there in future.

Beautiful bed and breakfast located in a quiet area of Waitomo. The rooms are well appointed, shared spaces are kept clean by responsible and respectful guests. Overall a welcoming and pleasant stay.

Really beautiful place, up a hill with wonderful views in the morning. The host was lovely as well. I was surprised by the shower system as it was unconventional for me but nothing wrong with it, simply a new experience for me !

L'inconvénient est que l'isolation phonique n'est pas bonne. Nous vivons au premier étage, mais nous pouvons entendre clairement en marchant au deuxième étage, il suffit de porter des bouchons d'oreilles. Cela a été prononcé par un vieux couple très enthousiaste et qui a présenté les environs de l'hôtel. La maison où nous sommes allés en novembre n'avait que le chauffage. Au départ, nous pensions qu'il ferait froid, mais en fait, le chauffage fonctionnait très bien et il faisait très chaud après avoir été allumé pendant un moment. Il est très proche de la grotte Glowworm, à plus de 20 minutes à pied et rapidement en voiture. Waitomo possède son propre parking, ce qui est très pratique.

We stayed one night en route to Hobbiton and liked it so much that we stayed another 2 later in our trip. Great location, and Cambridge is a relatively easy base to get to other places from. Beautiful decor throughout, nice finishings and really peaceful. It was very busy during our stay (around Christmas/NY) so a little wait for food/drinks but that’s to be expected. We had positive interactions with all hotel and restaurant staff. My only feedback is that the switches in the rooms have blue lights on them, which, for people that like a black-out room, can disrupt sleep. Hopefully an easy fix!

comfy bed, in room kitchen, individual deck outside with furniture, parking space, extra nice hosts. very clean! lovely decor and close to food street. nice views. recommend 100%

有歷史的古老的酒店，雖然設施有些陳舊也沒有手機充電設施但服務非常好，餐食也非常好👍門前就是九洞高爾夫球場，住店客人免費打，走入森林就是酒店的三個温泉池，温度不同！泡完温泉後可以舒舒服服美美的睡一覺！

We loved the room which came with a balcony overlooking the beautiful lake Taupo. The grotto and the heated pool were amazing and provided us with a very relaxing stay.

Nice welcoming greeting , ease of check in , nice environment inside, fine hotel room , nice amenities & an easy drive ( 1hr 20 ) from Auckland as a rest & recuperate from long travel ( Seattle, Wa.USA )

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 — Comfortable, Clean, and Great for a Short Stay This isn’t a fancy or high-end hotel, but it’s definitely a great place to spend a couple of nights—especially if you’re visiting Rotorua and Taupō. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which is really all you need for a short stay when you’re out exploring most of the day. Don’t expect 5-star facilities or luxury features, but the overall experience is solid and very safe too. The stay was pleasant, the environment was tidy, and it offered good value for money. A reliable and convenient option for travellers passing through or wanting a simple base to explore the area.
