I approached our 2 night stay here with a little trepidation. St Tropez isn’t really geared towards someone like me. I personally don’t like the overzealous exuberance of the place and I wasn’t happy paying the amount I did for a room for a friends birthday weekend. Taking this pre conceived view into this trip I was pleasantly surprised with La Bastide. Negative first, this hotel (and probably 90% of hotels in St Tropez) is not worth the “uber” 5 star prices. Our room was very small and not of the quality of a top hotel. Could’ve done with a better decor and there were many knocks and bumps visible. I could’ve got unlucky with the room but I suspect all would’ve looked similar. Looking to the positives. It’s a small hotel and hence is very peaceful and tranquil. If you’re in St Tropez for a party weekend, it’s nice to escape and have a few hours chilling out around the beautiful pool area. Plenty of green plants and trees, terracotta styled buildings beautiful blue pool, the whole thing resonates of 1960’s Beverly Hills movie star dripping hotel. It really is lovely. Every member of staff we encountered were incredibly friendly from the front of house to the maids. They also had an incredibly helpful free transfer to the main town centre. The hotel is about 20 min walk to the centre so very doable but in the summer heat, it is nice to have the option to be driven. The roads are so busy in St Tropez so I felt guilty asking the guys to take us for such a short journey but it never seemed too much for them and they were always happy to help. The food is good at the hotel also. Breakfast is buffet style and whilst the selection wasn’t the biggest, it is a tiny hotel so difficult to justify a massive spread as much of it would be wasted. What was there, was good. We had lunch around the pool also at their BBQ option. The food here was really good and of a very generous portion size. My only quibble would be that again, there is no justification for the price and the food and beverage prices were insanely eye watering. Overall, a very lovely hotel and if you can reason or overlook the exorbitant cost, you’ll no doubt enjoy your stay.

I am writing this letter to express my utter dissatisfaction and fury regarding the abysmal management at your hotel. I cannot emphasize enough the sheer disappointment and anger I feel towards your team's complete disregard for customer satisfaction and their remarkable incompetence in running a respectable establishment. First and foremost, the lack of professionalism displayed by your management team is downright shocking. It is evident that they have absolutely no understanding of how to handle even the simplest customer inquiries or complaints. Upon the check in, the guests faced the most disrespected attitude from the management team when the guests were trying to request an early check-in. The similar issue occurred when asking to request a late check out due to unforeseen health issues of one of the guests. It was kindly asked to grant an extra 30 mins to ensure that the guest would feel fine and ensure that the health condition wouldn't deteriorate during a route back home. Every time the guests approached them with a concern, they either dismissed or gave vague and unsatisfactory responses, demonstrating a clear lack of accountability. Such behavior is unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of your hotel. Furthermore, it is concerning to witness the incompetence of your management team in resolving issues efficiently. On the day of the arrival, guests faced problems with the room allocation, where the room initially booked was not available upon arrival. When making the booking online on the official website, the room description had the photographs of the junior suite attached with only one particular room. This created the expectation that the room would match the photographs that were placed on the official website. To the guests' greatest dissatisfaction and amazement on what they saw of the actual room that was assigned to them. Requesting help and trying to figure out the most favourable solution to both parties, the customer services and management was reluctant to help this problem. This forced me to waste my valuable time arguing with your inept staff, who seemed to have no concept of how to handle such situations and placing me on a 30 mins hold when asking to speak to the manager. Moreover, the lack of proper communication and coordination within the management team is truly astonishing. Given the exorbitant prices charged for a stay at La Bastide Hotel establishment, the guests expected a level of service that matched the price tag. However, the guests were met with nothing but disappointment and frustration. It is my sincere hope that you take this complaint seriously and make the necessary improvements to rectify the situation. I highly advise not to consider this hotel if you wish to have a pleasant stay in St Tropez.
