CChloe Lim SanThe heart warming and hospitality of this family is one of my best experiences in Japan.
It was my first time traveling to Hakuba and it was snowing heavily. Masanori san was busy with dinner but he had his daughter to pick me up instead (she have left for university so I reckon on normal days, he will have to go out of his way to pick passengers if they needed.) One key thing to note was to specify where you are properly because i took a bus and they didn’t stop me at the interchange but instead they dropped me off at the Hakuba stop (outside North Face shop) so it was quite confusing and they couldn’t find me at first.
The room is very spacious and the morning snowing view was really nice. The free Hakuba shuttle bus is just one minute away and it comes every hour, you can have breakfast at 7/7.30am and take the shuttle bus at 8/9am (might not come on time but just be earlier as there are many others taking the same bus). In house Onsen was decent with hot enough water but will be perfect if only it was outdoors (more for the ventilation and view).
The dinner made by Masamori san was one of the main reasons why I booked this hotel - French cuisine. It is delicately made and ingredients are carefully sourced, you can literally taste the freshness of their ingredients. Book at least one day in advanced!
At 84, their granny got to be the cutest and sweetest, we sang that one or two Japanese song she knew and she was so happy she served us tea, we kind of almost feel bad that she is serving us but after speaking to her daughter knowing that it is working there that keeps her body strong and makes her happy (so during Covid, she was feeling weak).
And also they link up with Lion Gear for all rental of everything you need. You just have to let Masamori san know and he will arrange for them to pick you up at your preferred time. After choosing your gears, he said they will send me to the slopes (went Goryu/Hakuba 47), but they didn’t and instead they sent me to Happo and I had to bring my gears and walked 20-30mins to the bus stops and paid for the V2 buses (the larger buses are not free - so you got to pay 800Yen per person). After I told Masamori san the story, he was really apologetic and immediately called them up. The next day, he got them to compensate me for the trouble and it really did helped ease the not so great experience and time wasting - the Lion gear boss was generous in compensating and explained that it was their new staff and they didn’t follow the previous arrangements.
Supermarket is about 15-20mins walk away, can be pretty cold but the walk is really nice, proper walking path with snow built up like walls.
All in all, I will still rate this place 9/10 for the hospitality and sincerity of this family, the food and the spaciousness of the room! Highly recommend you to go for the French dinner!

IInvitéService was in general good. Most staff can speak English and were very helpful. We booked their teppanyaki restaurant but due to a member being sick, we cancelled it one day ahead. However, we were then being told that there is a 50% charge which was not explained to us when we made the booking. After some back and forth, they finally agreed to waive it. Appreciated that but it was a hassle. The apartment is nice and juices and water were included in the fridge. There's no onsen nor swimming pool nor a gym in the hotel. Breakfast was good with lots of varieties. Location is excellent within walking distance to the Main Street in Echoland where most restaurants are. Hotel provides shuttle buses to Happo One and Hakuba 47.

IInvitéLa chambre n'est pas petite au Japon, le paysage en dehors de la fenêtre sanitaire est également magnifique. Le service est enthousiaste et il y a une soupe semi-spain ouverte, même si il n'y a pas de paysage, mais il est très confortable de glisser la neige après. Le restaurant et le bar sont assez bons. Je suis heureux de rencontrer le patron. Le chat est également très heureux pendant un demi-jour et demi-kilomètre. Le patron a également demandé beaucoup de vin. Il n'y a pas de panneaux pour le port de bagages. Le restaurant se souvient qu'il faut réserver un jour avant que vous vouliez manger.

LLY888The hotel was cozy and close to happo-one resort, the happo bus station, and a few ski/snowboard equipment rentals.
I stayed in a traditional tatami room - I enjoy sleeping on the mats with just a comforter but there were mattresses available in the closet for those who prefer it.
The best part of my stay was the customer service. I had to drop some luggage off before check-in to hit the slopes, and when I returned, not only was my room ready for me, my luggage was taken up as well.
In the evening another staff member enthusiastically help me set up the ironing machine as I needed to quickly steam a shirt, and provided recommendations on places to eat.

We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm.
Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice.
We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

LLydon MarksLovely place, it is very clean, super warm, the staff are very friendly and the buffet is very good. I would recommend dinner more than breakfast as they have more options then.
BEWARE: While the rooms are advertised as “mountain view” and while you can see the mountain from the rooms, it is DEFINITELY NOT the same images that are advertised online.
The photo below is the view from our window, and while it is cloudy, there’s a massive building and half a roof blocking our view. This means that not every room is mountain view, so book carefully.

Nous n'avons eu aucun problème pour trouver l'endroit malgré la neige, et le personnel nous a aidés à trouver une place de parking alors que tout était complet. Le personnel était sympathique et il y a des locations de voitures, ce que je n'avais pas réalisé avant notre arrivée. L'espace onsen était propre et suffisant. Bon choix de distributeurs automatiques. Le petit-déjeuner laissait malheureusement à désirer.

IInvitéVenez au village de White Horse pour voir les feuilles rouges de l'automne. L'air frais est très spacieux et ouvert. Le lieu de séjour est très chaud et le propriétaire de l'immeuble est très bien reçu pour nous permettre de se reposer et de restaurer notre force physique. La prochaine fois, nous allons reprendre notre bonne scène de neige.
