We are so glad we chose to stay here - everything was wonderful and we felt well taken care of. The hotel is beautiful and centrally located - we were able to walk to many attractions and the neighborhood was fun to explore. The staff's attention to detail and pride in the hotel was evident - from reception, to the restaurant to housekeeping - everyone was friendly and professional. We felt taken care of and welcomed by everyone we encountered. Just after booking, we read some negative reviews about the Bica rooms that made us nervous enough to wonder if we should upgrade. After seeing our room in person (Bica 7), we felt much better, and by the end of our stay, we knew we would be happy to stay in that room again. The Bica rooms are not 'in the basement' as some other reviews have stated. While they are on floors below main reception, keep in mind that the hotel is on a steep hill and these rooms look out over the downward slope. Our floor to ceiling windows were still above street level, and we were afforded a beautiful view of the pedestrianized old town streets below. Yes, there are some buildings across the streets with windows that face the hotel, but we never felt a lack of privacy - for one, the room had sun shade blinds on all windows that diffused the bright Portuguese sunlight, but they also provided privacy from anyone who might happen to look into our room from the windows across the street (they didn't). It is something anyone who has lived in a city would be familiar and comfortable with. We heard street noise only when the garbage was being collected, and the windows provided enough soundproofing to ensure that noise was very light and brief. Our room was very spacious, and even with the sun shades down, there was plenty of natural light and it felt airy and gracious. The AC kept the room comfortable, and we were happy to spend the hottest hours of each day relaxing in the room. The bed was huge (and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in). The bathroom is small, but beautifully designed. The shower water pressure was glorious and we appreciated the Aesop toiletries. The hotel was currently doing renovations on our floor, but you would never know it. There were a few discreet renovation notices on doors and we saw some workmen during the day, but the sound was well insulated behind multiple doors and we were never disturbed. The privacy was actually remarkable - even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, it was never noisy and we never felt crowded. We saw other guests occasionally, but it never felt like we were competing for space in the common areas or for the staff's attention. We enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the rooftop bar every day (I do not drink and appreciated the no-alcohol cocktail options), and our visit to Suba on the last night was nothing short of exceptional. I encourage you to make dinner here a part of your stay, you will not regret it. The nightly turn down service was such a

Ascensor da Bica - Lisbon Serviced Apartments

We arrived after a long day travelling and struggled to find the entrance. The address on Expedia is 234 but should be 236. The entrance was hidden by the long queue of people waiting for the Ascensor. It was only when I saw 2 ladies bending over a door code machine that we realised - on the Rua San Paolo, to the left of the Ascensor entrance is a recessed doorway. It currently has a glitter ball lamp and appears to be a bistro. There is a heavy glass door on the left and a door code machine. The sign for the Serviced Apartments is etched at ankle height so not too helpful! In the daytime you might notice another sign but it’s quite high up. However, the place is clean and well equipped and we’ve found it remarkably quiet at night. The Cais do Sodre transport interchange is a 5 min walk away making navigating the city straightforward.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a superior studio apartment and it was a great size, great decor and the perfect location. The bed was really comfortable and the apartments are serviced with cleaning and fresh towels most days. It had everything we needed. There is a good hairdryer in the room and you can use laundry facilities if you want to. There is construction work next door but they advise you of this in advance when you first book so you have the chance to change if it would be an issue for you. It’s noisy from 8am weekdays but not on weekends or at night so it’s not an issue if you are planning to explore, only if you would be staying in the room 24/7. The staff were really helpful and friendly and any issues we had were resolved quickly. They will store your luggage before or after check in/out and you can book an Uber right outside. It was €12 to and from the airport and around €6 to Belem. If we were to return to Lisbon there is no reason we wouldn’t stay here again!

I stayed recently. Unfortunately, my sister had an accident so our 3 day pilgrimage to Fatima became over a fortnight’s stay. It is a wonderful little guesthouse. More importantly, the reception staff were absolutely amazing to me. Everyday, they asked about my sister & took the time to come & speak to me personally. They absolutely went above & beyond. They phoned me taxis to the hospital daily, gave me so much advice & information. Gonçalo, Natalia & Ines were the kindest people I have ever encountered. I am absolutely so grateful to them. They really helped me get through such an awful situation whilst alone. I will never forget how much they helped. Anyway, the rooms are absolutely spotless. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, the gorgeous breakfast is delicious, so fresh, homemade pastries, freshly squeezed juice, free coffee & water available all day in reception. A beautiful courtyard to just sit & relax. An absolute hidden gem. Such an old historic beautiful authentic Portuguese residence. I loved my stay despite the circumstances. So much nicer than a soulless hotel. Thank you so much Casa do Patio, especially Goncalo, Natalia, Ines & the lovely friendly breakfast staff & housekeeping. Never forget your kindness.
