Nous avons décidé de passer 5 jours dans la région de Placencia et avons choisi le Maya Beach Hotel. Ça n'aurait pas pu être plus heureux. Les logements sont de premier ordre. Nous avons choisi de séjourner dans l'une des cabanes de plage, qui sont littéralement à moins de 100 pieds de la plage. Elle était grande, propre, bien aménagée et la cuisine était entièrement équipée (même si nous ne l'avons utilisée que pour quelques petits déjeuners légers.) Le service est impeccable. L'établissement propose l'utilisation gratuite de planches à pagaie, de kayaks, de vélos et d'équipements de plongée avec tuba. Le personnel de la réception a fourni des tonnes d'informations sur les activités locales (dont il y en avait beaucoup.) Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l'excursion à Monkey River. Le bistro sur place propose une excellente happy hour (2 $ de boissons au rhum et plus!). La nourriture au bistro était de première qualité et relativement peu coûteuse (environ 14 $ US pour la plupart des dîners, moins pour le déjeuner et le petit déjeuner.) L'hôtel est à environ 15 minutes au nord de Placencia mais ils organiseront le transport et les bus circulent régulièrement. Nous avions une jeep de location que je recommande vivement en raison de la flexibilité d'une location.
