- Ça fait trois jours. La position est bonne, le voyage est très pratique et les shopping sont très pratique, à une dizaine de minutes à pied du parc de l'opéra Hyde et d'autres choses. La suite est grande, très large, prête à accueillir le vin rouge et les petits repas. Le petit déjeuner n'est pas à l'heure, j'ai commandé une fois de me donner la chambre, c'est bon.

My first review on Trip and I don't usually bother to write reviews - shows you how much the hotel impressed me. We stayed for 1 night in Capella Sydney as a family of 3. The hotel facilities were absolutely amazing, decor was gorgeous and food options at Aperture and Brasserie were awesome. However, I won't dwell on these too much as I'm sure when you booked into a Capella brand hotel, you will already assume this as a given right? One highlight in terms of facilities though, was The Living Room, which is assessible to all guests staying in the hotel. It had beverages, snacks, comfy sofas and 6 star service. We spent so much time there chilling with our son and in the end it really became ”our living room”. Enough of that, let me move on to the service which blew our minds. I'll give you a few examples and hopefully you can see why I feel it would be criminal for me not to write a review. 1. On arrival when we got out of our car and the porters were helping us with our luggage, somehow they addressed me by name. Maybe it's because they saw I had a 2 year old and I was the only guest checking in that day with a small child. Still, I was super impressed. I've only experienced this previously at Aman hotels. 2. Upon checking in, Sophie (I hope I got your name right!) was super helpful and cheerful. When she saw my young son, she also proactively asked if we needed a later check out and if our son needed to nap. She immediately offered to give us 2pm late check out. However, having told her our son actually takes his nap at 2pm, she told us to come back and check with the front desk the next day and they can extend it till 4pm. Remember, I didn't request this, she did this completely out of her own initiative. 3. We didn't book dinner and Sophie referred us to Madiha of the Cultural team. Madiha took note of all our requirements, including the need for the restaurant to be 2 year old friendly, and within 15 mins emailed me a full list of restaurants and their menus for me to choose from while she also served us drinks and snacks at the living room. We eventually picked an Italian restaurant and she made the reservation for us. Fyi, it was scrumptious. 4. After breakfast, we were walking around the lobby and my son walked past the cakeshop and saw a raspberry tart. He really wanted it but I told him we just had breakfast. Ton (?)(I hope I got your name right, the Thai gentleman with a love for cars), the manager came up and said ”you can have the tart for free! It's on the house!”. I was stunned. He also spent so much time talking to my son and showing him pictures of cars, unbelievable. Shout out also to Matthew (uncle Hao Jun) for being so warm and hospitable to us. Honestly we were feeling so sad leaving the hotel as everyone felt like friends and family to us. One thing is for sure though, we will be back. Absolutely flawless service, kudos to the Capella Sydney team!

The hotel is easily accessible from the train station (as it is a slight downhill). The staff, from being met with a wide smile by the concierge to the check-in staff, are friendly, professional and just a joy to interact with. The rooms are well appointed, bathrooms absolutely spotless and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is good, but very few Asian options available. It should be noted that Google maps is not truthful about the fact this part of Sydney is ”mostly flat”... so walking shoes are a MUST as the hotel is so very close to a number of wonderful places to see, explore and enjoy a meal.

Le service était bon et attentionné. Nous sommes arrivés tôt le matin et la réception m'a proposé de m'envoyer un message sur Whasapp une fois que ma chambre serait prête et que mes bagages seraient déjà dans la chambre en attente. L'emplacement est proche de Circular Quey et à quelques pas de l'opéra. Le personnel vous fait sentir très bien accueilli. Je pense qu'ils m'ont facturé 20 AUD pour un seau de glace que j'ai demandé car leur refroidisseur dans le minibar n'était pas assez froid pour refroidir mes boissons, je n'ai vu cela sur ma carte de crédit qu'après mon départ, ce qui était inattendu mais bon, je ne peux pas me donner la peine de contester car c'était un bon séjour de toute façon.

The staff at the reception during check-in was very friendly and helpful. There weren't any disposable slippers when we checked in and thought it's part of the saving the earth efforts. Then there were no bath salts for the bath tub. To our dismay, one of the drinking glass was chipped. We were worried that the kids may cut themselves so I left a note to change the chipped glass before we left the room in the morning. Then we returned to a room with sllippers and bath salts and the glass changed. Wondering if the slippers and bath salts were a miss from the housekeeping or the hotel threw them in to compensate for the chipped glass. Anyway, the amenities were not replenished fully for the following days during the stay. Slippers were not replenished even when we threw away the dirty and wet ones. Bath salts were not replenished on certain days so such inconsistencies were not very pleasant for the price we paid for a high end luxurious hotel. A disappointment to be honest. Maybe Fullerton Hotel needs to retrain their chambermaids to be more attentive to the details to uphold the reputation of the hotel.

Excellent location and value for money. The staff were extremely helpful. We were able to check in early and access our room. The hotel also looked after our bags on the last day. The Harbour Bridge, The Rocks and the Opera house are all within walking distance. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily. Great value for easy access to the city!

Buffet breakfast Food was good especially the omelette. Actually services were so good and very efficient to clean up the table even though we just stepped out to grab more food A card that indicate the table is taken and return the card when complete of the meal may help. The smart view TV is nice as we may project our cell phone to TV to enjoy. However, internet connection wasn’t that good. View not good as block by the Sydney Tower. Location is excellent for shopping.

La chambre était très petite. L'hôtel est très bien situé, avec le métro et le quartier commerçant en bas. Il est très proche des attractions touristiques et très pratique pour voyager. L’inconvénient est que la cuvette des toilettes semble sale avec des taches noires dessus. Le sèche-cheveux était vieux et usé. Il tombe quand on le branche, il faut le tenir à la main pour le souffler ! Il semblait que les sachets de thé n'avaient pas été changés depuis longtemps et que le café déchiré était toujours dans la boîte. J'étais très mécontente !

Pas de bouteilles d'eau, seulement pour les membres de primes, petit lit royal, sacs de café et de thé non marqués ne méritent pas d'un hôtel 5 étoiles. Ne pouvait pas dormir en raison du bruit des voitures même si nous étions au 9ème étage.

There are a lot of things to like about The Porterhouse. The hotel was newly renovated. It’s a modern property with good technology- eg there is one in room tablet that controls everything. TV. Aircon. Do not disturb etc etc. In room housekeeping was done well- everyday we returned to a clean and tidied room. Bed well made and fresh towels. There was one day the cleaner forgot to empty one bin. But that was minor. Inclusive a la carte bfast was also tasty. Service can be a bit slow, food can take a while to come out when the bfast room is full, but we expected that and no issue to us. If there is one minor thing that can be improved upon- I’d suggest pls clean your open area carpets and corridors more frequently. Our floor’s corridor wasn’t cleaned for 4-5 days in a row (there was a cotton bud outside our room on the carpet for 5 days and it wasn’t picked up. Hence we knew no one was cleaning the carpet there). The 3rd floor corridor does start to smell stale/mouldy becos it wasn’t cleaned frequently.
