Une semaine en all inclusive. Vous avez le choix des piscines. La nourriture est excellente. Possibilité de vous restaurer toute la journée. Les chambres, tout confort avec bouilloire, cafetière, peignoirs, produit douche, shampoing, savon, lait corps, coffre fort gratuit, frigo, tv avec seulement 3 chaînes françaises. Bémols, le français n'est pas parlé, difficile de se faire comprendre à l'accueil. Le complexe hôtelier est basé sur un terrain non plat. Si vous avez des problèmes pour vous déplacer, demandez une chambre dans un bâtiment au centre. L'océan est à une dizaine de minutes à pied sinon petit train à réserver gratuit. Des arrêts de bus sont dispos en bas de l'hôtel.

The positives: The area and the beaches are beautiful. Soft sand and lots of places to get refreshments as you walk along the Boardwalk to Alvor. Alvor has many different eateries amongst the narrow streets and shops. Our visit in April provided lots of sunshine. Buffet breakfast provided lots of variety and similar for dinner. The pool snack bar/cafe has a good menu and the food served quickly and hot. The not so good: check-in at 3pm and the room wasn’t ready, it was nearer 4pm before we got into the room. The mattresses are very soft, lumpy and do not provide a comfortable night’s sleep. The towels in the bathroom are quite hard, and the toilet paper rough. Not what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. There was no separate bin in the bathroom either. Clearing tables at breakfast and dinner either is too fast - you barely finish the last mouthful before the plate is removed; or plates aren’t cleared away quickly making it difficult for more people to be seated for breakfast and dinner. Waiting staff don’t all seem to know what they need to do; when a glass fell off a tray and smashed in the floor another waiter walked around it rather than looking to quickly get a brush. The restaurant takes your room number and notes this against your drinks order yet some nights asks you to pay directly rather than adding to your hotel bill on check-out. A disappointing experience. The indoor pool is not heated and whilst it has thalassotherapy jets and a jacuzzi the water is too cold. Towels for the pool are provided and indicated they can be in your room (we didn’t have any). Collection of towels is behind the bar near the pool snack area. On some nights the bar area has insufficient seating for guests at this time of year when it’s too chilly to seat outside after dinner. Staff experiences were mixed. Reception were friendly yet female manager in restaurant quite harsh and lacks customer service skills. Overall, the Alvor Praia is a 60s/70s inspired hotel which whilst has character the general condition of the hotel requires some maintenance. Based on our stay this is not a 5-star resort at best a high 3-star.

Fantastic hotel. Rooms cleaned every day location great. Reception staff very helpful and always had a smile Big thank you to Thomas ( I think that’s his name) at reception. Almost every night we asked him for directions to restaurants/ bus stops etc and he was so good at explaining it to us. Lovely pool area small but quiet and relaxing Breakfast staff were fine but a simple smile in the morning would have been nice A bit “ grumpy “ to say the least. Umberto was just great. He’s the tall one. Always had the biggest smile for you when we walked in. Very very nice man. Would recommend this hotel. If I ever return to ALVOR , I will certainly return to this hotel. !!! Just to say the jet 2 rep was wonderful. I took ILL one morning and she went above and beyond to help me. Phoned later that day to check on me and also the following day too. Wish I could remember her name. So a big thank you to her !!!

I would love to give this place a poor review to put people off going so I could keep it for myself but that would be doing the staff a real disservice. I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

The Pelican Alvor was a lovely quiet hotel a 15 minute walk from Alvor Town centre. The room was the best we've stayed in for years, big spacious and had a kitchen area and separate bedroom area. Breakfast was OK but not brilliant. I was happy with toast and cereal, there was a limited cooked selection. We did sometimes find the English breakfast tea had run out. The hotel had a supermarket 10 minutes away which sold everything we needed. The hotel was very quiet and had no entertainment, luckily Alvor is close by and a taxi home was 5 euros. The pool area was OK but sometimes we struggled to get an umbrella for our loungers. Also the loungers on the grass meant the chance to get an insect bite for free. The staff were really friendly and we had drinks in the bar area. The hotel has a lovely quiet vibe and we are already booked to return next year.

Superbe localisation, les villas très spacieuses, propres et complètes. Le personnel très gentil. Cependant, la piscine climatisée fatale: il y avait des cucumbers!! Et en outre, il sentait très bizarre et désagréable. C'est dommage que nous ne puissions pas nous en débarrasser, mais pour tout le reste, c'est merveilleux.

This was our second stay in this excellent accommodation. The reception area is staffed by highly professional, courteous, helpful and welcoming staff. There is a small swimming pool, with adjacent sun beds, a lovely snack bar area, a wonderful rooftop sun area with sun beds/table/chairs. The apartments are of a very high standard. The dining/sofa/kitchenette/TV area had everything needed. Coffee pods were an extra bonus. Decor was bright and modern. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was large with an excellent shower. The balcony was an additional bonus. The household staff have to be complimented on their high standard of cleanliness, and courtesy. The rooms were spotless. There is a superior standard of cleanliness evident throughout the building.
