I had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

This is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed - it represents everything about the legendary New Zealand Hospitality that you have ever imagined. Run by the owner, Chet, who delivers a truly personal and welcoming experience for every guest. I stayed for four nights and every morning there was a breakfast banquet of fresh fruits, cereals, milks for everyone ( soy, oat , dairy) , freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made coffee, hot toast and so many condiments to chose from . You sit round a large table which is social and interesting to find out what others are planning. On the one morning when I had a very early start, a breakfast was placed carefully outside my room for me to enjoy before setting off at 5.30am - such thoughtful service. My room was the little ‘sleep out’ which is a super cosy ensuite room with a lovely bed and excellent shower as well - set in the carefully designed courtyard, which has a lovely small pond and flowers and plants that clearly the local birds and bees really enjoy too. A very relaxing place to sit and unwind in after a busy day . In terms of location, when you arrive Chet takes you through a carefully, prepared map and gives you a link to a web page he has created full of useful tips and hints . The public bus system in Christchurch makes it very easy and cheap to get all over the place . Chet also offers a laundry service, but please remember this is not a laundromat, so you if you need something urgently then look for that, but if you have a day or two then your laundry is done and returned all very efficiently. So in summary, if you want to experience real New Zealand hospitality, look no further than Designer Cottage !

L'auberge est un point culminant de cette ville car elle est convertie à partir d'une ancienne prison. Le style prison est un peu déprimant, surtout parce qu'il est situé dans une toute petite rue où il n'y a rien... un peu comme au bout du monde. C'est agréable de dormir une nuit mais probablement pas plus longtemps. Bon, mais tout le monde aime les autres attractions et en général l'auberge n'est pas mal.

Nous ne sommes restés que très peu de temps (de minuit à 6h du matin) Quand nous sommes arrivés, il était difficile d'entrer dans l'hôtel. J'espère qu'il y avait une personne au hasard qui nous a aidés. Ensuite, vous devez appeler le responsable (il n'y avait personne à la réception). La personne est venue assez vite et a été très gentille avec nous. Il nous a aidés à réserver un taxi pour le lendemain matin. La chambre était TRÈS petite, même si le lit était l'un des plus confortables où nous ayons dormi.

Das Motel ist zentral gelegen, preislich nicht sonderlich teuer - entspricht aber auch der Qualität. Die Zeiten der Rezeption sind äußerst ungünstig und werden nicht eingehalten. Da wir erst am Nachmittag vom CHC Abfolgen, wollten wir das Gepäck im Hotel lassen. Am Vorabend haben wir uns erkundigt, wann und ob wir das Gepäck abgeben können. Der frühstmögliche Zeitpunkt (aus Sicht des Motels) ist die Öffnung der Rezeption warten um 9:30 Uhr. Am Check-out-Tag haben wir um kurz vor halb 10 bereits vor der Rezeption gewartet und haben festgestellt, dass die Rezeption noch verschlossen war und die Angestellten auch nicht ins Gebäude kamen.. somit haben wir vor verschlossenen Türen bis 09:45 Uhr warten müssen. Als wir (UND die Angestellten!) dann endlich reingelassen wurden, konnten wir under Gepäck erst in einer halben Stunde abgeben.. dadurch verplempern wir die uns bleibende Zeit in CHC.. hierhin würden wir nicht mehr kommen!

Nous avons séjourné à l'hôtel pour 4 nuits, nous sommes arrivés à l'hôtel, la réception était assez gentille mais pas aussi utile que tout personnel de bureau frontal pourrait être. La chambre était propre et confortable, l'emplacement était fantastique, l'environnement était superbe (quitte, quelques clients chauds). Mais de quelque façon ma femme a perdu son anneau de mariage de notre chambre. M. *********, le gestionnaire de l'hôtel, l'a encore empiré du point de vue des voyageurs. Il a été plus mal attitudé à l'égard de l'inconvénient, plutôt que d'offrir sa empathie, il a renvoyé la responsabilité aux clients de l'hôtel qui ont perdu l'anneau de mariage dans sa chambre à l'hôtel. Il a réagi de façon frappante lorsqu'il a demandé à propos de CCTV autre que le dossier d'accès à la porte qu'il pouvait fournir immédiatement, en étant d'accord avec sa réponse et son attitude vis-à-vis de quelqu'un qui s'est tourné de la chambre pour chercher juste le ring manquant. Il n'était pas ami, empathique, ni bienvenu, malgré son activité dans l'industrie de l'hospitalité. Je ne blâme personne ici ou ne fais aucune accusation à personne, mais il était le seul responsable de l'hôtel pour lequel nous pouvions chercher de l'aide dans un pays étranger, et il nous attendait de comprendre comment la police et le système fonctionnaient ici. Pour nous, il nous a fait sonner comme des *** et être oubliés sur nos propres propriétés.

J'ai réservé une chambre double privée et je ne m'attendais pas à un bon sommeil parce que les gens montaient et descendaient l'escalier semblait être un troupeau de rhino. La cuisine a beaucoup d'espace et le salon dispose de nombreux sièges de table. Les salles de bains étaient propres et la pression de la douche était grande. La position de l'auberge est fantastique, mais le parking de rue est mesuré et limité entre 9am-6pm. L'hôtel est très bien situé dans le centre de la ville, mais il est très important de trouver un parking gratuit. Il y a des rues libres mais soyez attentifs aux habitants.
