Renaissance Hamburg Hotel

Hotel Hamburger Perle

Hambourg|À 0.28km de la Das Verlies
A very comfortable hotel with very friendly management and staff who (on our visit) were more than willing to try to make sure that our stay was a very pleasant one. Very spacious rooms that were clean with comfortable beds. Which can be at times one of the biggest factors about a hotel. As can be expected the hotel is non-smoking but there is a garden to the rear which despite being surrounded by tall buildings felt very peaceful at times. The only drawback to the hotel is that there is no lift and the entrance itself is up a set of steps. So depending on what floor that you are on it could be quite a little trek up the quirky spiral staircase. The hotel itself is on a quiet street even though when you get to the end of the street you hit the hustle and bustle of shops, food establishments, the theatre, bars, banks, a number of different ATM’s (some free to use while others charge for withdrawing cash) and the police station, it is like you’ve crossed between 2 different worlds. The hotel in ideal location because situated just around the corner from the hotel on the same main road as the shops, choice of food establishments, theatre, and the police station is a number of public transport connection stops meaning that you are free to explore the city and travel with relative ease. If you are planning on using public transport to get around the city then ensure that you purchase the “Hamburg Card” which gives unlimited travel on all HVV public services (bus and trains) including the harbour ferries. The card even includes travel to and from Hamburg Airport (providing you have a valid card), so when you consider that the average price of a taxi to or from the airport is around €35 - €40 each way then the savings start to add up straight away. The card can be bought for just a single traveller or valid for a group of up to 5 people regardless of the ages of travellers. The cost of the card (at the time of writing this review) is: 1 Day — 1 person €11.90 — Group of up to 5 people €19.90 2 Days — 1 person €20.90 — Group of up to 5 people €35.90 3 Days — 1 person €29.90 — Group of up to 5 people €49.90 4 Days — 1 person €39.90 — Group of up to 5 people €66.90 5 Days — 1 person €46.90 — Group of up to 5 people €82.90 As you can see for less than the cost of 2 individual cards 5 people can travel together. The card can be bought at various shops, hotels and the tourist information offices or through the dedicated app. As a bonus with the card you get a 50% discount at a large number of tourist attractions. Would I stay at the “Hotel Hamburger Perle” again? Definitely!!!

Location is perfect. The area is one of the most lively in Hamburg. U bahn close, and P under the hotel if you arrive by car. The hotel was modernized in 2018 and the rooms adequate for a nice stay. Also nice breakfast and bar area. Combining german and scandinavian look and charm. Fine breakfast. Free WiFi - and it functions. Clean and sober everywhere. And very kind and helpful staff. On top a very reasonable Price for the room.

Parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parkings confortables, parking

The worst reception staff I have encountered in my life (and I travel for work and live in hotel most of the year). I am referring to the old grumpy man, whose name I couldn't get to know. So firstly, the check in. The receptionist did not seem very greeting. But the shady stuff starts happening once I pay for my stay. I pay in cash and he tries to keep 10 euros from the change to himself thinking I won't notice, but luckily I know basic math. He didn't seem apologetic or too happy to give me the right amount too 😁. Secondly, the room. I expected this to be a no thrills type of place, but I found it ridiculous how when I booked a double room for 2 people, only one bed was ready and had sheets on it while the other one was completely bare (in Germany they usually have 2 single beds next to each other as a double bed). During my stay I was also asked by the receptionist if he can call the booking company and tell them I canceled my stay and if they ask me that confirm it, but since I already paid I can continue staying as normal. I found that awfully weird and shady and of course said no since why would I do that. And the worst of all was when I had my friend come stay with me (mind you I booked and payed for 2 people to stay). The receptionist asked him to pay another 20 euros in Cash when he arrived. And when I was told this I was really not ok with this and went down to show that I booked a 2 person stay and already paid everything. The reception at first started saying that I had multiple guests. Then started to say he never asked for 20 euros when the second guest arrived and he also started to use swear words and for me to shut up and go to my room when I demanded the money back. I was shocked to have a receptionist speak to me like that. Clearly this person is very shady and if he is a staff member and not the owner, I would advise the managers or owners to find a replacement since I really don't think a hotel is a right place for this person and on the long term you're gonna ruin your reputation. I really would advice to stay away from this place since it was not a relaxing stay at all. I would say the only good things were the bed (which only one of them was ready 😁), but the room itself is a joke, there were no hangers and no chair by the desk. A change in staff or some training and a few basic things in the room would make this place really worth while since it seemed newly renovated and is in a convenient location. Though st Pauli is a bit trashy to begin with, but you should expect that.
