My stay at Novotel Cambridge was extremely disappointing due to serious cleanliness issues.
Upon checking into Room 205, I discovered visible blood stains on the duvet. This is not a minor oversight — it is a basic hygiene failure. Clean bedding is the absolute minimum standard any guest should expect. Finding blood stains immediately raised concerns about the room being properly cleaned and inspected.
I reported the issue and was informed that the bedding had been cleaned again. However, when I returned to check, the stains were still there. This was both frustrating and alarming, as it suggested a lack of proper quality control within housekeeping.
Only after escalating the matter was it properly addressed. Charlotte, the manager, eventually upgraded us to an executive room and provided complimentary breakfast, which I appreciate. However, this does not change the fact that the initial room condition was unacceptable and should never have happened in the first place.
An upgrade is a service recovery gesture — it does not erase the hygiene concern or the distress caused at the start of our stay.
I hope the hotel seriously reviews its cleaning procedures and room inspection standards to prevent future guests from experiencing the same issue.
Unfortunately, based on cleanliness alone, I would not rate this stay highly.

It is close to Cambridge university and quite convenient to anywhere you wanna visit, the room is lovely with Cam river view. The stuff are all kind and supportful, I have to give my biggest thanks to stuff Emma who is so nice and unforgettable . Will absolutely choose this hotel next time when i am in Cambridge .

It was a very pleasant stay. Very comfortable bed and pillows, I’ve had an amazing sleep. Bathroom clean and quite big with all necessary toiletries provided. We used the gym, swimming pool and sauna facilities. All very clean. Gym receptionist was very kind and helpful. Gym was fully air conditioned, pool and areas clean. Only odd part, there was a swimming lesson in action for young kids so couldn’t enjoy the pool much. Breakfast was lovely also! Good variety of food. I would definitely return!

Merci d'avoir fait mon voyage de vacances si impressionné et je reviendrai si j'avais des vacances, très recommandé

Good stay. The pool area is quite small and not the cleanest so wouldn’t give it 5 star. Handy that the lockers were free and free towels provided. Would’ve liked a dressing gown. Room service was quick, hot, and tasty. Customer service was lovely but quite slow on reception. I would definitely stay again!

L'hôtel est un peu vieux, la chambre principale est un peu petite, elle est spécialement plus grande, mais il n'y a pas de chambre sur place.
Plus tard, allez à l'hôtel de l'ami Delta, à peu de distance, regardez le salon très bien. Le prix est proche, il devrait être mieux.

Magdalene Lodge is a fantastic Lodge located at Cambridge Country Club. It has spectacular views over the championship golf course and offers guests a relaxing getaway, whilst being really close to the university city of Cambridge. All guests to the lodge are able to use the facilities at the Country Club, which includes use of the beautiful swimming pool, the state of the art gym and the golf course. There is also a spa where a wide range of treatments are available and can be booked before arrival. Cambridge Country Club has a bar and a restaurant for breakfast or lunch.The lodge is very peaceful and extremely stylish. The lounge area has 2 large sofas with a large wall mounted smart TV. There are bifolding doors which open onto the fantastic decked area, where you can enjoy alfresco dining overlooking the golf course or soak in the fantastic hot tub to totally relax. The master bedroom contains a superking bed with a wall mounted smart TV and French doors which open onto the decking area. There are also fitted wardrobes and a dressing table. The en-suite contains a bath where you can totally relax and even watch the TV! There is also a huge luxurious rain shower. The second bedroom has a double bed with French windows opening onto the terrace and the third bedroom has two single beds, ideal for children or which can be joined together to make another superking bed. (Please advise if this is needed when booking.) The Hotel was clean and helpful - although many staff seemed a little less that informed - the rooms were clean but cold at night turning the heating up didn’t help - the amenities over Christmas and new year were not as advertised- and the restaurant closed over this period so bar meals on laps were the best they could offer except breakfast which was good. Food other than breakfast was a poor selection little to offer for children or someone with diabetes so we had to eat out a lot despite being pre charged for meals.
The swimming was good but times advertised were not adhered to and no one knew times - and the rules very varied.
Once in the pool it was clean and warm.
Overall on our 2nd visit - first was better I think perhaps Christmas period is not a family period in which to spend time here.
