Hôtels 3 étoiles à Cumbrie, Royaume-Uni

We checked in late night, witn a car. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Room is as described. Heating was cranked up which we appreciated, but also had windows we could open. Great doorway location to the rest of the lake district. Very happy with our 1 night stay.

I have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

La chambre est très propre et le petit déjeuner est envoyé dans la chambre selon le calendrier convenu. Les œufs sont optionnels, j'ai choisi des œufs de riz, et des œufs de riz chaud, très appropriés pour les œufs chinois. Vous avez des bus directs à Windermere et Keswich.

I arrived on a stormy night in the lake district - on entering the hotel I was met with a warm glow from the log fire and a very warm welcome from the receptionist. As the hotel dining room was about to close, a room was sorted and the kitchen kept open for an evening meal - a delicious melt in the mouth steak was a pleasure after a 6 hour drive from the south of england, washed down with a welcome glass of Shiraz. The bed was very comfortable, the room had a large bath and separate shower cubicle and copious hot water. The decor and fittings were in sympathy with the age and history of the hotel, a pleasant change from the blandness of more modern mass market hotels. The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to be assisted without having to use automated impersonal systems. I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when I am next in the area.

La chambre était de bonne taille. Parcelage disponible. Piscine était jolie. Belle vue sur le lac des jardins. Très gentils personnel. Bonne nourriture. Jardins agréables. La salle était relaxante avec un canapé agréable . Certaines questions mineures: Manque de pression de douche, toilette ne fluiderait pas correctement, teneur en sang sur le sol du toilette, prenait des années pour obtenir de l'eau chaude pour la douche

Excellent, I had a superb stay , the George is unique Bien qu'il ait un aspect sans temps, un magnifique bâtiment historique, il a des caractéristiques modernes, et des aspects, qui le rendent très confortable. L'expérience de l'hôtel la plus belle, j'ai eu depuis l'année, je suis impatient de rester à nouveau, un arrêt parfait pour moi C'est le soir de Noël.

Installations: très bien Santé: propre Environnement: sécurité Service: très bien Recommandez un endroit très bon! Ne manquez pas. J'espère avoir une chance de revenir. La position est très pratique avec un parking. - Bonne expérience.

Two single beds spaced together instead of a double bed as advertised. Apart from that everything was expected.

Very old looking run down needs totally  decorating from top to bottom ….. killed 5 flees in my bed not a clean place . On the plus side the food . evening meal was good breakfast was fab …. Entertainment was good. Bar was busy people dancing throughout the night every one enjoying their self’s 

The hotel I was originally booked in had a flood so at the last minute I had to find another one, I found  Arkale lodge and it didn’t disappoint, the rooms are pretty basic, but extremely clean which  in my book is more important than a fancy room. And certainly good enough for the price I paid, the gentleman that showed me around was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was from 7 which was perfect for my continuation of my Hadrians wall walk. The Breakfast was included in the room price and was exceptional (full English, which I easily adapted as a non meat eater)  It was plentiful, delicious and freshly made. And a great start to my long tiring day  Thank You so Much  For your kind hospitality  Cathie :)
