Reception staff was super friendly and very helpful a credit to the hotel. Room was clean with a lovely bed and warm powerful shower. Food served til 8.30pm which the food we had was lovely and would recommend, menu is rather small but they are good at accommodating e.g vegetarian however a little on the high price. I would say the bar is over priced for the stay however lovely open fire! The grounds are nice with a woodland behind. With a kids play area and a few added bits e.g giant chest set. Room was a little cold (room 25) with the heating in the room not working however a plug in was provided within the room and the hotel it’s self rather warm downstairs with working heating. My biggest concern was the windows the bathroom window faces out to the staff carpark and the blinds old, dirty and not working with dam or water damage above the windows ( which i expected given the age and price of the room) The hotel has a little dungeon which we were allowed to go down which added to the castle stay! The hotel has certain bits of armed men and knights bits on display. I felt with a small investment in displaying the castles history and strengthen the knight theme the dungeon could be a little hidden gem Ice cream parlour up the road on a working farm with kids play area, good selection of shops within 10 mins drive at a new retail park with cinema, plenty of restaurants, and supermarkets Would stay here again Overall would stay here again

La chambre était spacieuse et confortable. Il est venu avec petit déjeuner gratuit, ce qui est bon. Le petit déjeuner était bien, la même nourriture tous les matins. La seule chose qui nous laisse descendre est l'un des membres du personnel du restaurant. Nous nous sommes assis là pendant des années à attendre de être servi. Parce qu'il ne nous servira pas jusqu'à 8 h. Nous avons donc attendu patientement, parce que nous venons juste de venir cette nuit et qu'il était très faim. Ce type serviait d'autres personnes, mais pas nous. Alors mon mari et moi étions interrogés sur ce qui se passe. Mon mari est allé au toit et s'est couché. Mais quand c'est à mon mari qu'il s'en occupe, il a demandé, ”Qui est le prochain?? Bien sûr, mon mari était devant lui. Puis, quand mon mari a demandé si nous pouvions commander maintenant, il regarda le voir et moi et dit, ”Oh, attendez votre table, et je vais obtenir votre commande de là. . Peut-être parce que je suis le seul asiatique là-bas. Je me sens comme si il y avait un peu de *** à être honnête. Nous sommes retournés à notre table et attendions qu'on soit servi à nouveau. Mais il ne s'est pas monté et a servi le prochain table en plus et a servi un autre client qui est venu après nous. Je suis si en colère et si en colère. Mais je ne veux pas causer une scène. Alors nous venons juste chercher un autre restaurant en dehors de l'hôtel. Nous sommes si déçus, et nous ne nous attendions pas à être traités comme ça. Le récepteur était très gentil et utile. J'ai oublié son nom. Mais celui du restaurant n'est pas gentil. Il a ruiné notre vacances familiales. Nous ne reviendrons plus là.

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.

The accommodation was close to the theatre and centre of town. The room was very small, but it was clean and okay for the one night we booked.

Les installations de la chambre sont relativement anciennes, mais globalement très propres, en particulier le stationnement gratuit est un grand prix. Le restaurant italien dans le jardin de l'hôtel est fortement recommandé, leur pizza et leurs fruits de mer sont de première classe!

The self check in was quite simple, and they had our room ready before the original check-in time. The room was very clean, staff are not always present but they are friendly and helpful. Really close to a bus station that has direct bus to Beamish Museum, and walking distance to Aldi, Asda, and some fast food/takeaway nearby. Really good for non-driving people visiting Beamish Museum. The walls may be thin and could occassionally hear sounds from other room, but it's an overall good experience.

Stayed for one night in Feb 2026. Comfortable room, nice facilities (love the tub), good location, and lovely luggage storage after check-out. Don’t miss their breakfast!

Had a lovely stay only dawn side was the air conditioning wasn’t working in the room and it was the hottest day of the year so was needed, staff did try to fix it.

Ils avaient une simple réponse « Non » pour tout. Je peux vérifier dans 30 minutes ? Non. Pay 15 livres supplémentaires. Payé ! Service de lave-linge disponible? Micro-ondes disponibles pour la cuisine chaude dans le restaurant ? C'est un hôtel très basique. Non recommandé pour les familles. Demande de nettoyer la chambre; ils oublient d'informer le nettoyeur. Même quand ils ont nettoyé la chambre le lendemain, ils ont juste changé la lin. Tout le reste était comme ça.
