Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan

We just completed our second stay at this exquisite hotel as part of a two week trip through Italy. The Excelsior stands out as a Marriott Luxury Property in so many ways! Outstanding value for the price of the rooms, ideally located literally a two minute walk from the central train and metro station, and fantastic, helpful staff. I have stayed at many, many Marriott properties and this hotel is an architectural masterpiece, from start to finish. The high end finishes throughout, including an absolutely incredible, extensive use of marble, made walking through the common spaces a visual delight. Our rooms, both times, were impeccably appointed. The lighting throughout the property is in its own category (check out the 7-story hanging central chandelier that extends down the entire space of the stairwells!), and literally just everywhere you look there are detailed architectural elements and layers of design that make this property stand in its own category - truly! And then there is the spa, and the amenities available for all of the guests. The indoor pool, with walls lined in marble and more of the most amazing lighting. Several steam rooms and saunas, there’s even a salt room, complete with heated tiled loungers - sheer heaven after a long flight! One of the cherished parts of our stay was going down for the daily breakfast buffet - which is hands down the best my husband and I have ever had at a hotel. The buffet extends through two rooms, with separate stands for juicing (done by staff), a chef standing by to prepare omelets/eggs to order, a meat carving stand, a pastry table that belongs in a Disney movie, and the very best fresh fruit, day in and day out. No detail was left unthought of, and the service each day was above and beyond. I’d like to particularly compliment Lucia - the maitre d’ who graciously greeted us each day, and then the amazing attendants Rita, Zheng H., Maria, Francesco G and Daniel S - you all made our stay so memorable with your impeccable and friendly service to look forward to each morning! We received excellent service at check-in from both Francescas, and our housekeeper Alyzza was a sweetheart. Luca G., Paolo B., and Riccardo P. were all outstanding concierge attendants who offered excellent suggestions for dinner each night, as well as directions - grazie mille! If you are looking to stay in Milan, you could not possibly stay in a better, more convenient and truly spectacular hotel!
