This was genuinely a wonderful and most special place. The Rocksalt Rooms are in a separate building to the Restaurant - but you check in at the latter and walk you over. Note all the streets here are cobbled, which can be slippery when wet. They are a real BoltHole as they are described, and there are only four total. 2 on 1st floor, 2 on 2nd floor, with one per floor harbour facing. I'd definitely suggest that the upgrade is worth it. The rooms are compact but exceptionally well presented. I've odd little niggles, theres no bedside of any kind - floating shelf would work, where do you put your mobile? And the metal bed frame is ornate and was loose on the footboard. The biggest challenge is where to put things. There are a few hangers on the back of the door and a small set of hooks, but not a drawer or proper place at all. I get space is a real premium here - bedside with 2 drawers all you need! The wet room is compact as everyone says. You won't keep the floor area outside the shower dry, it's not possible. The sink is a corner one with no space to place things but there is shelf in the bathroom for all your luxuries. The body wash / conditioner / hand soap / hand moisturiser are great quality. Noise - it's by the Harbour so they start early, but for us it was part of the charm of the location, the fresh fish smell was totally incredible. Breakfast is not to be missed, across in the restaurant with the best view, it's harbour side. Loved the granola, yoghurt, compote starter. I had English Breakfast as I was hungry, it was great quality but disappoining - it was more style over substance. The bacon is cooked to crispy, not my style at all but great quality. He had the Salmon & Eggs and it won hands down. Local, fresh, decent portion, on wonderful Sourdough. Luckily I was saved a bite. A point or two more - the bedside light fused the circuit and the room was plunged into darkness. Looked for fuse box, could not find. Ended up in Restsurant. They had to get keys to a location they used to own but don't now (ground floor of the Rooms building). This took a while as the keys had to be obtained. I get how this used to work, but not now - the fuse box needs moving. The if we cant fix option was check out and refund - erm no!! There is the most incredible Team member behind the Bar/ Restaurant from Bulgaria whose name I have really tsckily forgotten. For which I apologise. She is truly wonderful and made the visit for me, id return solely to see her again!!! Overall we loved Rocksalt Rooms and would return, to have dinner in the restaurant too! I really had a pleasant stay. Everything about the hotel was relaxing and although I didn’t sleep well (due to being in a different bed to my own) there was nothing I could complain about. Staff were great, breakfast was ok (selection of cooked breakfast, pastries, toast,cereals & fruit) and you’re greeted with that famous cookie! :)

La chambre était plus grande que prévu et avait une patio à se poser, le lit était confortable et tout est situé à quelques pas des chambres de mews. L'homme d'entretien a dû sortir et réparer le chauffage pour corriger la question. La location est tout à fait incroyable et les jardins sont bien gardés. Le restaurant gardenia est fermé quelques jours de la semaine pour dîner et aussi pour le petit déjeuner que je ne pensais pas être idéal. Pour le petit déjeuner, nous avons dû aller au sage restaurant spa qui avait une sélection très limitée de nourriture. Il y avait environ 6 plats à choisir, ils disent Le chef ne cuisine pas d'œufs cramés qui est un petit déjeuner essentiel, donc j'ai dû avoir une plaque de toast. Il y a eu un peu de déshydratation, mais il y a eu un peu de déshydratation. Je suis venu à l'hôtel il y a quelques années quand vous n'avez pas dû payer pour l'accès au spa, mais maintenant vous faites ce qui est un peu annoncé. Donc then you have either to eat very late at night or have a late lunch otherwise the £20 will not be well spent and you’d have to leave the spa after an hour

Nous avons séjourné ici 3 nuits en août 2025 et c'était charmant. Les couloirs peuvent être un peu déroutants, alors faites attention aux numéros de chambre pour ne pas vous retrouver dans un couloir inconnu. La chambre était propre et assez spacieuse pour 2 personnes, et d'une propreté impeccable. Ma chambre offrait une belle vue sur la cour et une vue partielle sur la mer. Le dernier jour, quelques clients chantaient et jouaient du piano en bas, c'était très agréable à regarder. Il n'y a qu'un seul ascenseur dans l'hôtel et le trajet jusqu'à son étage peut être très long, ce qui peut être un peu agaçant. Nous avons également demandé le nettoyage de nos chambres pendant 2 jours, et nous avons constaté que les draps n'avaient pas été changés (j'ai renversé un peu de café sur un côté et la tache est restée pendant les 3 nuits). Les serviettes n'avaient pas été changées non plus, nous avons donc dû appeler la réception pour en obtenir de nouvelles. Il y a un Costa au rez-de-chaussée, dans le hall, ce qui est super – dommage qu'on ne puisse pas commander ! Il semblerait que le personnel de l'hôtel fasse aussi office de barista chez Costa, car nous avons attendu debout pendant 30 à 40 minutes avant d'être servis. Hormis ce petit incident, notre séjour a été excellent. L'emplacement de l'hôtel est idéal : juste en face de la mer et à environ 10 minutes à pied du rivage.

Great value for money. Used the hotel for a quick stop over before onward travel. Large room, a little old fashioned but not a problem at the price we paid, to be expected. Everything in the room that was needed and very clean. No lift to second floor so a little difficult with heavy luggage but we managed. Would stay again if in same situation.

My wife and I stayed for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. Our stay was exceptional and especially all the staff who couldn't do enough for us and with a smile and good humour. The service was spot on as was the food in the restaurant, we ate there on all three nights and enjoyed top cuisine, wines and beers. A special touch was the 'Happy Anniversary' slate with a couple of coconut ice sweets! The breakfasts were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, although we found the bacon just slightly tough but totally edible. Superb poached eggs! As a comment fresh fish would have been a nice addition at breakfast although smoked salmon was available. The bed was very comfortable and the room spotless and with most of the facilities one would expect. It would have been helpful to have a non-slip mat for the bath as well as a grab handle for safety. Also soap dispensers next the shower would have been helpful. As the summer is extremely hot (2026) air conditioning was very welcome! The spa facilities were lovely too!

Perfect sized room, lovely set up, the hotel itself is huge and so well presented. Gorgeous swimming pool. Lots of places to sit down and eat if you would like too. There is a gym and a spa also (we didn't use these but we know they are there) there are phones in the rooms so you can order room service if you wish. The staff knocked on our door on the second evening and asked if we would like any refills on teabags coffee or sugar or any fresh towels. So well mannered and polite. Just an over all lovely place to go and its literally beside Brands Hatch where we needed to be. Cannot fault this place..

Hotel is conveniently located by the M2 motorway, close to the town of Gravesend. Hotel staff were polite and helpful and the cleanliness of the hotel throughout was acceptable. Room was cozy, soft bedding and plenty of tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom was small but well equipped, decent water pressure and temperature. Restaurant attached is nice affordable and fast service.

We booked this hotel for location and spa. The hotel was lovely but the spa was dirty and lacking in spa experience facilities. I feel this should be sold as a hotel with a pool. Disappointing spa experience for a 4* hotel and feel like this hotel has miss advertised the facilities. The shutter to the spa was down before 6pm on Valentine’s day. At check in we were told that you will get towels and robes at the spa and last entry to the spa was 8:30pm. When we arrived at the spa area reception we were only given a towel and told robes are only for guests on a spa package, contradiction to what we were told at checking in at the hotel. The pool area and changing rooms was very dirty. The pool side showers were out of order and looked like they had been for a while. The area where the jacuzzi used to be had been boarded up and looked like it’s had been for a long time. The pool was cold and also dirty.

The hotel is a bit dated but for the price we paid, it was good value. In terms of location, it was great for us as we were guests at a wedding at Leeds Castle and this hotel was literally around the corner. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did not use the leisure centre, but was told by family that it was really nice, especially the swimming pool. Regarding the room, as soon as you walk in you can smell the drains in the bathroom which is by the door but it's not that bad that you can smell it in the room. We had a family room which was large and had a king and two singles. The room was ok regarding cleanliness, some missed areas and dead insects which may have flown in through the big windows. Breakfast was nice with a decent selection of food and good choice of drinks which was needed after a hot weekend. Overall we are pleased with our stay and would recommend it.
